Missouri Deer Hunt

November 20, 2015 at 10:39 am

I thought you guys might want to see pictures of Dad's big Missouri buck.  He shot this one on Monday, November 16 at about 2:20 PM.  He hunted all morning and stayed in through the afternoon.  We expect this big 9 point to score better than 150"!  Way to go, Joe!

Snakes in November!

November 20, 2015 at 10:32 am

Cody killed this canebrake rattlesnake at the cut in the fence near Chufa on Tuesday, November 17.   It was 4' long and had plenty of rattles.  I think I'll keep wearing my snake boots until we get a hard freeze!

November 8, 2015 at 11:18 am

I bowhunted for the first time this season yesterday (11/7/15).  Conditions weren't ideal.  It was 70 degrees and 100% humidity.  I didn't see any deer, but I loved the view!  Looking forward to another great season.

Game Camera Feedback

November 6, 2015 at 12:33 pm

Below are some pictures of bucks we have seen and feedback from Alabama Wildlife Biologist Bill Gray:

Response from Bill Gray:

The 7 point is 4 by my best estimate – could be 3 but I guess 4.  I’d give him at least another year – if you get a shot at him it will be worth it.

The 6 looks to be 3 but I don’t think he’s gonna ever really be what you’re looking for.  I’d let that be a “management buck”, but if possible put a kid or some novice hunter on him that will appreciate the kill.

Bill,

I wanted to send pictures of 2 bucks to you for your opinion about their maturity. Attached are 2 pics of a big bodied 7 pt we have seen around the feeder trough. These pics are a month old (ignore the date stamp on the game camera - these pics are from September). Thoughts on him? Mature this year or hold off? He looks like he could grow to be a stud if he doesn't get shot.
